Defending the Status Quo....Policy Makers and the Media Unite

This week the GOP presidential candidates shocked the world by their 'no show' at the NAACP 98th annual convention. With the exception of Tom Tancredo (R-CO), the rest of the republican presidential hopefuls failed to appear. Is this the true crime though? The true questions are: Where was the national media on this coverage? Where is the outrage in the African American community? Why are the Democrats, the historic defenders of the African Americans, quiet on this issue? Sharpton, Jackson...this is something 'true' African American leaders would address. Imus captured your attention....Why not the lack of the GOP candidates at the convention?

The NAACP convention displayed the stark realization of the power of the 'establishment' in America. The ruling class elite, war profiteers, the members of our media, leading corporations, who represent 'Old America'. They are not capable of adapting to rapid societal change.

We are currently in a digital age. A period in our history where the average citizen of the world has a broader array to gather, receive, and analyze information. A time of the empowered consumer. The Establishment represents a set of systems and traditions that thwart change in all aspects of American society. In short, they are the defenders of the Status Quo. The 'establishment' does not represent the voices and actions of the 'people', in fact, they are in direct opposition to them.

The 'GOP debacle' displayed that the ''establishment' in America is, as it was in the '60's, a force that is subverting the American populace into a course they do not agree. The complete lack of coverage of this 'newsworthy' story is astounding. Our current turmoil throughout the world can be summed up by the lack of response and DISRESPECT our policy makers and the media have given the American populace. Faced with coverage of steroid laden killer wrestlers, Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckham, and petty news stories, the establishment has crossed the line. This is not news, this is gossip. What about the GOP abandoning a primary minority group in the U.S.? What about the lawsuit announced by the NAACP, at the same convention, of 14 sub prime lenders including Citigroup, Countrywide and 12 others? Is that not news?

Once buried in the depths of our newscasts, newspapers, and weekly periodicals, gossip has eclipsed 'real news' and moved to the front page. The Top Story. The money maker, Ka-Ching, if you will. Why are they not giving us the truth? Was Jack Nicholson's character in , A Few Good Men, right?

"You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns...You have the luxury of not knowing what I know.. while grotesque and incomprehensible..You don't want the truth..neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!"

Our rights are being subverted to privileges. Wake up America. The 'establishment' is taking US in the wrong direction. Make our voices heard.
Same Players. Different Scandal.
