Michigan GOP chair is an A$$..calls Obama... "pet rock of the election" What an A-Hole

I'll take a pet rock any day over any of these GOP swine. A "pet rock" will never lie, cheat, steal, or subvert the American people unlike the "compassionate conservatism" of the GOP.

From The Trail,

No Obamamania from Michigan GOP Chair

By Juliet Eilperin
TAYLOR, Mich. -- Michigan GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis has a new nickname for Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.): "pet rock."

Speaking to a gathering of GOP stalwarts tonight, Anuzis conceded the presidential hopeful was loveable and popular. But that just makes him, in Anuzis' eyes, "the pet rock of the 2008 campaign."

"At the end of the day, we're going to figure out it's just a rock," Anuzis told the crowd, prompting a few laughs. "He's just another typical liberal senator who wants to be president of the United States."

No telling which Democratic presidential candidate will earn the nickname "Chia Pet" in the days to come.

"pet rock", Sad..first they called him "intellectually lazy", now it's "pet rock". Lil' hint...surrender the fantasy GOP. Next, you'll be calling him Mr. President! WE, Obama and Edwards are coming to town! It's time for CHANGE!

Hillary Hates Iowa. Here comes OBAMA: "Inevitability. Waning"

Another excellent drawing and commentary by The Searcher. The man has talent and foresight!
[best viewed while listening to the theme from Jaws.]

Aide: He's gaining. Some polls have him at a ten point lead in Iowa. That's a 25 point erosion in just the last month, and now clears the margin of error.
Hillary: I don't understand. We were running solidly for the last six months. What changed?
Aide: um. Nothing. Apparently that's the issue. Focus groups had us keeping you aloof and general. The more you stayed a symbolic blank slate, the more they liked you.
Hillary: So what's the problem?
Aide Well, it seems that at some point, people are looking for genuine. They want honesty, intelligence, and straightforward answers and discussion. It looks like Obama's been riding a positive wave with this strategy.
Hillary: But what about the focus groups? We tested honest and straightforward, and it tested horribly.
Aide: Uh, yes and no. We tested YOU attempting honest and straightforward. But the focus groups never bought it. Apparently genuine is more than a conversational style. And quite frankly, you made them very uncomfortable.
Hillary: So you're saying I can't stay vague symbolic, and I can't pull off honesty well enough to compete with actual honesty. So where does that leave me?
Aide: Um. well. How do feel about running for President of the Senate?
Hillary: .....

When Pastors Attack: Huckabee takes aim at Romney

Huckabee knows a flip flopper when he sees one. Or as the N.H. Concord newspaper states, "a phony". A phony, flip flopper he is, and Huckabee couldn't resist.

From the Caucus,
Mr. Huckabee laid out a string of attacks on Mr. Romney’s past statements about his views on abortion rights, gun control, the Reagan administration, and his past as a hunter.

“You are not going to find moments on YouTube of me saying something different about the sanctity of life today than I said ten years ago, ten minutes ago, or fifty years ago,” Mr. Huckabee said, referring to footage of Mr. Romney declaring his support for abortion rights—a position he later changed. “You are not going to find something in YouTube where I said something completely different about gun ownership and the second amendment than I did last week, ten weeks ago, ten years go.”

“You are not going to hear me making up stuff about my biography. I don’t go around saying I was lifelong golfer because I once rode in a golf cart when I was eight years old,” Mr. Huckabee said.

Ouch! Former Pastor, Huckabee has a vicious bite. Watch out McCain...you're next on the pastor's list. An eye for an eye. Duke it out with each other, reThugs..you are on the wrong side of change and progress.

Hillary slings "mud" at Obama via the hack Robert Novak

Anybody who follows my blog knows that I'm an "aggressive progressive", who does not support Hillary Clinton, but supports the Democratic Party as a whole. Now that is mentioned let me move on. Robert Novak has published absolute rubbish about Obama and has claimed it comes from the Hillary campaign.

From Townhall.com,
Agents of Sen. Hillary Clinton are spreading the word in Democratic circles that she has scandalous information about her principal opponent for the party's presidential nomination, Sen. Barack Obama, but has decided not to use it. The nature of the alleged scandal was not disclosed.
.....
This word-of-mouth among Democrats makes Obama look vulnerable and Clinton look prudent. It comes during a dip for the front-running Clinton after she refused to take a stand on New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's now discarded plan to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens.
The response from the Obama campaign sets the record straight,
“During our debate in Las Vegas on Thursday, we heard Senator Clinton rail against the politics of ‘throwing mud.’
.....

“The item did not identify these ‘agents,’ nor did it reveal the nature of the charge. It was devoid of facts, but heavy on innuendo and insinuation of the sort to which we’ve become all too accustomed in our politics these past two decades. If the purpose of this shameless item was to daunt or discourage me or supporters of our campaign from challenging and changing the politics of Washington, it will fail. In fact, it will only serve to steel our resolve.

“But in the interest of our party, and her own reputation, Senator Clinton should either make public any and all information referred to in the item, or concede the truth: that there is none.

“She of all people, having complained so often about ‘the politics of personal destruction,’ should move quickly to either stand by or renounce these tactics.

“I am prepared to stand up to that kind of politics, whether it’s deployed by candidates in our party, in the other party or by any third party.

“The cause of change in this country will not be deterred or sidetracked by the old ‘Swift boat’ politics. The cause of moving America forward demands that we defeat it.” The Carpetbagger Report

How convenient. Clinton's slinging "mud" via, Novak. Those GOPer's are trying their hardest to make Hill their '08 competitor against their pathetic Presidential nominees. Obama has the appeal of the masses. Hill represents the "old guard" and the Republicans are comfortable with her. We need a leader who isn't entrenched in the politics of the old. A leader who isn't entrenched in "manipulation Nation".We need "truth in leadership", not the Status Quo. Hillary, Novak, and their dirty tricksters are pathetic.

Anybody, but Hillary, Biden, Giuliani, McCain, Thompson, Huckabee, and Romney in '08. These people do not represent America. They represent the "status quo" and work against the "needs and wants" of the electorate. They are the past...we need a leader to take US into the future. A future full of hope. Hillary is NOT the ONE! nor are the status quo, war mongering, "richie rich" loving Republicans who wish to run against her. She is their "dream candidate"..Not OURS!

You have to love it. What do you do when the Democrats leaves you out of the debate? Mike Gravel plants himself on stage with a bluetooth mic and a large television broadcasting the debate live. Biden joins Edwards..asks for Public Campaign Finance Funds

If nobody wants to contribute to your presidential campaign, by choice, what do you do? If you're Sen. Joseph Biden, you 'march on' by asking for Public Campaign Finance funds.

From Reuters,
Biden, who has raised $8.2 million for his bid and has spent about $6.3 million, submitted paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to qualify for government matching funds to help him compete in what will likely be the most expensive U.S. presidential campaign in history.
.....
"We are taking every step to ensure that we will have the necessary resources to compete in Iowa and the other early states," said Luis Navarro, Biden's campaign manager.
.....
The Delaware senator's campaign said it would decide over the next month whether to accept the money.
They will. Biden needs to keep is profile high. He's going to be Hillary's VP..just watch. (prediction due to his Yale connections. Yale alumni have been in the Oval Office for 28 consecutive years. Why stop now?)

Biden has credentials, but no support. Poor, poor, Biden. Do US all a favor. Drop out! You've already spent your 'supporters' money. Don't spend ours! Obviously...you're not worthy.

Sen. Dodd's gone crazy. Urges kids to dress like him on Halloween

Now I've heard of some crazy costumes, but the Senator Dodd costume takes the cake this year. Here is a ridiculous idea...dress your child up like an old Senator with a dream to be President of the Free World.

Here is the press release from he Dodd Campaign,

Manchester, NH - Today, the Chris Dodd for President Campaign came to the aid of parents and children across New Hampshire who are still struggling to find the perfect costume for Halloween. The campaign released the following directions for the Chris Dodd Halloween costume.

"Every year, parents and their children struggle to find that perfect Halloween costume," said Dodd spokesman Bryan DeAngelis. "We wanted to do our part to help by providing them with the option of going as the one candidate who has the proven leadership, record of results, and bold ideas that we need in our next President - Chris Dodd."

and for the best part....the required materials,

Required Materials and Instructions for the Chris Dodd Halloween Costume:

White Hair - Use hair color to turn your hair into a bright white just like Chris Dodd's.

The white hair represents the seven years and two presidential vetoes that Chris Dodd had to work through to pass the Family and Medical Leave Act. It also represents the 26 years on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee where Chris Dodd has been involved in every major foreign policy decision over the last quarter century. A fluent Spanish speaker, Dodd personally met with world leaders to help resolve conflicts in Latin America. In addition, he worked closely with Senator Ted Kennedy and President Bill Clinton to help facilitate the Good Friday Peace Accords that brought peace to Northern Ireland.

A Passion for Service

As a young man, inspired by President Kennedy, Chris Dodd joined the Peace Corps in 1966 and served for two years working in a rural village in the Dominican Republic, where he became fluent in Spanish, before going on to serve his nation in the National Guard and Army Reserves.

A copy of the Constitution

Chris Dodd carries a copy of the constitution with him everyday. As a Senator he has fought tirelessly to restore the constitution and roll back the Bush Administration assault on the rule of law. As President, the first thing he will do in January 2009 is restore the constitution, restore the rights of Habeus Corpus, and restore America's Moral Authority.

A folder with literature about Dodd's bold ideas

Whether the issue is Iraq, restoring America's standing in the world, driving down health care costs, fixing our schools, or building an economy that works for all Americans, Chris Dodd is offering bold, innovative ideas because he knows half-measures won't get the job done.

A few of Dodd's bold ideas to mention:
A corporate carbon tax that would punish polluters and spur the innovation of environmentally friendly technology.

Free community college for all Americans.

The American Community Initiative - a comprehensive national service plan that will draw upon the very best of our character to call Americans to service.

Happy Halloween. Watch out for the little Christopher Dodd's out there. Even for a Democrat...the thought of a 10 year old Christopher Dodd is scary as Hell.

Does Bill Richardson believe in UFO's, Too?

First there was Giuliani's "intergalactic attack", then Kucinich's visions of UFOs, and now, Richardson? Apparently our Presidential candidates are going "alien crazy".

On Friday, Bill Richardson entered the 'clandestine' UFO debate during a town hall meeting when a citizen asked him about the 1947 Roswell UFO mystery. Was it a plane, a weather balloon, a UFO? Who knows...but Richardson is prepared to get to the bottom of it.
"Answering questions at a town hall meeting Friday, a Dell employee asked Richardson about the 1947 incident in which many people still believe a flying saucer landed near the eastern New Mexico town.

"I've been in government a long time, I've been in the cabinet, I've been in the Congress and I've always felt that the government doesn't tell the truth as much as it should on a lot of issues," said Richardson, who is governor of New Mexico.

"When I was in Congress I said (to the) Department of Defense ... 'What is the data? What is the data you have?' "

He was told that the records were classified.

"That ticked me off," he said, as the crowd laughed.

"What do you want me to do? You want me to open up all those files?" he asked the alien enthusiast, who answered that he did.

"I'll work with you on that." Houston Chronicle
One has to love it. Our candidates are talking 'alien'...again. There is something interesting in their answers, though. The answers strongly reflect their campaign vision. Take Giuliani, if encountered with a UFO...he'd "attack" it. Kucinich would "talk" to it, and for Richardson...he just wants answers, he's the consummate student, diligently checking facts.

Does the GOP still exist? or are they all Neo Cons now?

Who are the GOP representing? They're obviously not representing Muslims, African Americans, Latin Americans, or the middle class. I'm not sure they even have a 'base' anymore, The Christian Right is throwing their abortion hissy fit, the Minutemen are on revolt about immigration, and the military is turning sour on the war. America, the GOP is in trouble...and it's a good thing.

For decades the GOP have been 'preaching' to US. Telling US this is good and that is bad, meanwhile they've led their party into the ground. Countless ethics scandals, bathroom escapades, etc. Once propped up by Newt's Contract with America and the Religious Right the GOP ran the the show. Now those that prowl the halls of Congress have been led astray. They've gone to... as Cheney states, "the shadows"

The "shadows" are the back room deals, arm twisting hospital visits, illegal wiretapping, they are the politics behind the the 'culture of war'. Cheney, known for his Machiavellian and secretive ways has 'preached' nothing other than war and oil..perhaps a 'little' increase in the power of the executive, but beyond that..Cheney's doctrine is war. This culture has permeated throughout the GOP. Instead of capitalizing on their past victories with the religious right they've cast themselves away from those groups that once united them. Instead they settled into 'Rovian' partisan politics. They settled for talking points and 'Bush Diplomacy' forgetting the 'base' that brought them into power.

The party line...Gives away absolutely nothing to BushCo's war on terror. Nothing is negotiable. These wars are holding the GOP hostage. Unless they break away from Bush now, the GOP is finished. We might as well just call them what they are, America's new third party...the Neo Conservative Party.

Bush and Cheney and their neo conservative cronies have completely subverted the GOP. They've used religion as a 'tool' in their quest for power. Now that they have their desired power nothing is to prevent them from wildest dreams. We are now witnessing their 'vision' of how the world should function, not how the world does function.

Return Democracy to the People...Return Democracy to the Democrats, just not Hilliary.

Fred Thompson and his Lazy "4 minute speech"

Fred Thompson is something else. He's a former Senator, an actor, a 'shady' lawyer, a K street lobbyist..and a grandpa..I mean dad with a 'hot', young wife. But Fred doesn't have it all. Fred lacks patience and 'likability'. Let's just say this, when the charisma wagon rolled by...Thompson was nowhere to be found. He was probably 'lazing' around waiting for the Presidency to fall in his lap.

Here's an excellent example of Fred's impatience for politics, his laziness to campaign, his unwillingness to 'stump', his preoccupation with glamour instead of politics....I give you Fred Thompson, " the reluctant candidate"...

Giuliani spoke..McCain spoke..Mitt spoke, and Fred...well...When it became his time to address the Florida Republican Party at their biggest annual event...
....the crowd was primed, having listened to his rivals deliver speeches, lasting about 20 minutes each, that the candidates each obviously thought played to their strengths.

Mr. Thompson walked slowly onto the stage, kissed his wife, Jeri, on the cheek, made a joke or two, claimed to be a “consistent conservative” — and said good night. He spoke for four minutes.

“I was really kind of shocked,” said Linda Hoffman, 47, who wore stickers for all the candidates on her blazer, reflecting her indecision. “We were all hoping he would say something we could get behind, but there was nothing.” NYT, the Caucus
Lazy old bastard...perhaps Fred, just isn't Fred without all the make up, cameras, huge Hollywood paycheck and his little red truck.

Biden to Hillary: "If Military action against Iran occurs..."It's your FAULT"

It's a Dog eat Dog world and election politics allows candidates from the same 'team' to devour each other. Democratic Presidential hopeful, Senator Jospeh Biden has accomplished just that. He has gone rabid and bitten presidential front runner Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in the jugular...
Oct. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Democrat Joe Biden, chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said President George W. Bush could use a measure calling the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist group as a justification for war.
Biden, the king of 'dividing' up the colony of Iraq, summed up the measure succinctly, stating...
... the resolution was "a gigantic mistake.''
and he is right. He may be deceitful and dishonest about other subjects, but he is correct on this resolution. This resolution acts as a "get out of jail free card" for Bush to start..as he says, WWIII if Iran goes "nuklr".
The Senate voted 76-22 on Sept. 26 to approve a nonbinding resolution asking the U.S. to formally include the 150,000- member military group (Revolutionary Guard) on a list of terrorist organizations. Biden said Bush could use the vote to justify an attack on Iran... ( Webb, too ...he's a good man)
"non binding" for 22 others, but not for Biden...and now for the good part of the drama,
Biden...criticized Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton..for supporting the measure on Iran. He said she would bear responsibility for any military action taken by the president against Iran. Bloomberg
Taking the bite like any "candidate" should...Clinton retorted...
...the terrorism designation would give the U.S. "the options to be able to impose sanctions on the primary leaders to try to begin to put some teeth into all this talk about dealing with Iran.'' Bloomberg
Typical...Hillary represents a by gone era...she doesn't represent our future or our progress. Others Democrats may, but Hillary, or Biden, for that matter, not a chance. Let these two Dogs bite each other. Let them give each other rabies for all I am concerned....Meanwhile Obama, Edwards, Richardson, and Kucinich can debate the 'matters that count' to the American People.

America...vote Democrat in '08, but make sure he/she...is not a Yalie...or that wretched Giuliani, Thompson, or 'old man' McCain. It's a Dog eat Dog world, let them EAT each other.

2008 Election: 16 "memoirs" to throw in the Fire

Winter is approaching so it's to grab a nice book and settle in next to the fire. Luckily Salon.com just reviewed 16 "memoirs" of our "presidential" candidates . Apparently they all believe they have something important to say. But to who? You see..all the problems with these 'memoirs' are that the candidates are writing them from a first person perspective. They are viewing themselves through hindsight and telling US not who they are, but who they wish they could be.

So let me save you the time. Curl up, grab your hot chocolate..and throw those memoirs in the fire. Here are the books reduced down to a sentence. In case you don't want to struggle through the four pages worth of reviews. Or worse...suffer through one of the 'masterpieces' yourself.
  • Romney thinks he and his boys can lead the nation because of the Olympics in Utah
  • Barack offers HOPE and Progress from his childhood although not so sure of his father
  • Kucinich has a "prayer" people would listen to him
  • Tancredo sees Danger when he thinks of tacos
  • Hillary tells us she's not dead, but with her we might be
  • McCain speaks of a never ending fight even when he's ran out of money and almost life itself
  • Edwards makes sure everybody knows he's a lawyer, a hedgie, too
  • Ron Paul offers foreign policy and dreams of the main stream media paying attention to him
  • Biden offers up more broken promises and a divide Iraq, much like his life
  • Gravel grovels about being an uber citizen from the past that sounds like Grandpa
  • Rudy..just a pathetic, criminal who wants to lead but is bound to a code of ethics worthy of the devil
  • Brownback's "I am religion" with a touch of compassion..if you believe in 'God'
  • Dodd offers up his dad as a 'censured' U.S. Senator for being 'shady' but redeemed by being a Nuremberg war prosecutor
  • Huckabee delivers 12 step to 'slim down' America
  • My name is Bill Richardson and I am a the reluctant diplomat
  • ...and Thompson reminds everybody he was a mole to Nixon, attached to the Watergate scandal. Nixon thought Fred was 'dumb'...and that his little red truck is broken down...just like he is.
Save US all. I liked it a lot better when historians wrote about "analyzed" history, rather than a bunch of Status Quo political puppets yelping about how perfect they are in the present. Memoirs..ssshheesh even, Lynne Cheney has written hers...and that's a story worth telling. Life with delusional Dick has to be interesting, yet still she fails and tells US a brokeback mountain story instead.... please... "the dick" has subverted Democracy.....

How low can they go? Approval ratings: Bush 24% Congress 11%

Six years of 'compassionate conservatism', 'Bush diplomacy', and the 'House of Pelosi' has given rise to a 'throw the bums out' mindset'. According to the Reuters/Zogby Index poll numbers released on Wednesday, America is unhappy and our policymakers have become pathetic and almost completely worthless to US.

When is enough, Enough? When will Americans stand up and demand Action. Our infrastructure in crumbling, our enonomy is in shambles, our 'inalienable' rights are rapidly becoming privileges, our health care system is broken, our schools are declining, corporations are running the war(s)... Come on, America, are we playing a silly game of 'how low can they go'? These people do not represent US. They do not represent change and progress. They are addicted to the Status Quo. When is enough, Enough?
"There is a real question among Americans now about how relevant this government is to them,.. They tell us they want action on health care, education, the war and immigration, but they don't believe they are going to get it."

"Americans are still feeling good about a number of things in their lives, but not about the government's leadership...They are giving up on this government." pollster John Zogby
According to 991 likely voters,
The Reuters/Zogby Index (RZI), which measures the mood of the country, also fell from 98.8 to 96 -- the second consecutive month it has dropped. The number of Americans who believe the country is on the wrong track jumped four points to 66 percent.

Bush's job approval rating fell to 24 percent from last month's record low for a Zogby poll of 29 percent. A paltry 11 percent gave Congress a positive grade, tying last month's record low.
on foreign policy...
18 percent gave positive marks..down from 24 percent
on the economy...
26 percent rated economic policy positively..down from 30 percent
"The public mood is not just dark. What's darker than dark?" Zogby said. "The mood is getting ugly." reuters
What the RZI and Zogby didn't say is...Ugly means WAR. The lower these numbers fall the closer we come to another War provided by George "dubya" Bush and Richard "the Dick" Cheney. ...and just think, we could have had Gore. George Bush is by far the worst President the Supreme Court ever elected.
