"Mission Accomplished" Redux..this time Bush has "Destoryed Al Qaeda in Iraq"

"America has one goal in the war on global terrorism: "It's victory -- unconditional, unapologetic and unyielding," Donald Rumsfeld 2005
The Washington Post is reporting the Pentagon is expected to release a raving review of US military forces progress against Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI). In short..it's expected to be the second round of Bush and Cheney's famous "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq...this time Bush, following General David Petraeus' pseudo plan, he has 'crippled' AQI.

Before everybody gets all crazy about what the Pentagon is hypothetically going to say, let's take a moment and reflect on what Donald Rumsfeld had said about "accomplishing" the "mission" in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2005.
MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla., Oct. 12, 2005 – Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld suggested to military men and women at a town hall meeting here Oct. 11 how they might answer questions stemming from "growing confusion and some misunderstanding" about the global war on terror.

Speaking to a group of airmen from the 6th Air Mobility Wing and other service members from U.S. Central Command and U.S. Southern Command, Rumsfeld noted that the troops might be getting questions from others about what America is trying to accomplish in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Well, you can tell those who ask such questions that you and your friends across the world are standing on the front lines to protect them and to safeguard their freedoms, as well as your own

a
nd you can tell them something else: that America is not what's wrong with this world...What's wrong with this world are the terrorists, the 'beheaders,' the hostage-takers, the assassins -- the people our forces are fighting every day in a number of locations -- they're what's wrong with the world. And our country's finest men and women are out there meeting them every day.

it is not the mission of the U.S. military to "cower behind illusory defenses" because "defenses don't work." The only defense is to go on the offensive, to stop terrorists before they attack America.

Your mission is to be on the offense; it's to go on the attack and that's what our forces are doing: they're engaging the enemy where they live so that they do not attack us where we live."

America has one goal in the war on global terrorism: It's victory -- unconditional, unapologetic and unyielding...

You fight today so that our children and their children might not have to experience the heartbreak of something like Sept. 11th and the men and women in uniform -- you and your associates all across the globe -- are displaying resolute courage, the kind of courage that's defined our country through the generations. defenselink
and just in case the White House and Pentagon want to start ridiculing our former Generals that are speaking out on the war..remember Rummey's advice
it's service members' responsibility to speak up about what they believe.
Save Democracy from the Monarchy, but be careful...as General Odierno recently stated, it only takes three people" to construct and detonate a suicide car bomb that can "kill thousands."....thump thump thump..the constant drumbeat of fear continues...

The Statements Don Rumsfeld did not say on Camera
Remembering History: Donald Rumsfeld on 9/10/2001
It's Official...Petraeus is marching US towards war with Iran
Kuwait agrees to US Arms package..."no aircraft included"

Dissenting Against the American People

"...everyday I am reminded that our nation is still vulnerable. Everyday I am remembered about what 9-11 means to America.", stated a somber 'W' in 2003. Four years later we hear the same rhetoric spewing out from the Bush Administration. In fact, since 2001 we have been told we are facing a national security threat, be it from the "war on terror" or "axis of evil", our 'homeland' in one way or another is threatened. Our National Security is at risk. Our 'homeland' is under attack, not only by our far off enemies, but by the enemy within.

Anytime the country is facing a national security risk there is always a risk that government will press to far. A risk that the institutions of our democrazy become subverted in terms of providing 'safety' for the 'homeland'. Lately our newscasts have been filled with our 'new' enemy, whether it be, Al Qaeda 2.0.1, Pakistan, Iran, North Korea, China, Cuba...we have many. When not filling the airwaves with our fears we get Anna, steriod killer wrestlers, Paris, and Victoria Beckham. Our national media and the current Bush Administration are marching to the same drumbeat. The drumbeat of fear.

If there is a rule, a regulation, a law...out in the ether, the current Bush Administration seeks to break it, destroy it, or subvert it. Wiretapping, executive privilege, Iraq, Afghanistan, the attorney scandal, subpoenas, voter fraud, no bid contracts, Tillman....We are facing a period in time where our response to these crises and challenges is critical. Our global persona throughout the world is in jeopardy, but most of all so is our Constitution, our rights, our pursuit of freedom. Where is the outrage?

This Administration and the media are not serving the interests of the United States. Within 6 short years they have kept a constant drumbeat of 'terror' in our daily lives. Isn't terrorism based on our fears! Generated and perpetuated by our enemies. The fear of the unknown. This is the bait. The prey is US and we have taken it. We need to stop the feeding frenzy.

In the '70's it took two bright eyed reporters from the Washington Post and a Washington 'insider' with a penchant for talking to break the cycle of abuse of power being committed in D.C.. Today, although there are great voices to be heard, the 'establishment' powers have effectively muzzled them. Sent them to greener pastures. Booted them off the bandwagon.

We the American people support our soldiers, we love our nation, yet we are told that if we don't follow instep with these 'wars' we are unpatriotic, defrauders of our military, participants in treason, liberals and worst of all 'Dissenters'. But who is dissenting? With poll ratings for the current administration hovering in the upper 20th to low 30th percentile, are they not the dissenters? Whose opinion is in the majority? Our Democrazy has spoken!, yet we go largely unheard.

'We the People' are lacking true 'representation'. The pillar of our Democrazy is being subverted. Our politicians and the media refuse to address our 'true' concerns. Lack of representation by both our policy makers and the media alike can only spell disaster for the future of our country.

Why no outrage? That is not correct. The people are outraged, but unseen and unheard on our newscasts. Everyday there are anti war, impeachment, and 9/11 protests that have gone unheard. Silenced by the media and the administration. For those that don't believe imagine a media that broadcast the 'realities of war'. That broadcast images of our sons, daughters, grandchildren, neighbors, co workers...coming home draped in the flag. Our media have perpetuated an administration sanctioned 'media blackout' of the ugliness of war. The true price that we pay for the 'war on terror' not some blown up numerical figure that is supposed to represent some value to the common citizen. Four years and not an ounce of blood shown on television. The neo cons learned something from Vietnam. That America could not sustain another war with the US national media watching. Remember the images of Vietnam? Could public support for the 'war on terror' be maintained if the gruesome images of the war were on our televisions...our newspapers.

It is true...Images speak a thousand words and those are the words being silenced. We all lose in the end. Stop the suppression.. Support our Constitution ......DISSENT. Same players. Different Scandal.

Al Qaeda 2.0.1. . . Full Strength and Threatening US

Here they come. Fully armed and ready for global jihad. Al Qaeda 2.0.1, armed to the teeth, Iraq insurgent tactic educated, and inspired to "provoke and bait" the United States and other western powers into "bleeding wars" throughout the Islamic world and at home. Wait. Wait. Back up. Haven't we been fighting Al Qaeda in Iraq so we don't have to fight them at home, on our own soil? I remember our King, George W. Bush, specifically detailing this circumstance only one month ago. Stating, "terrorists will follow us home...we must defeat them there so they don't come here" when describing a proposed U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq.

But I thought we were winning. Killing Al Qaeda and insurgent leaders, cutting supply routes, bombing safe houses, the 'surge', list goes on. Sometimes we have even killed the same people twice. All this bloodshed done on Iraqi and Afghanistani soil so we don't have to worry about them following US home. That was what the deal was, right? We can't leave because they will follow as here is what we've been told.

Well, it seems staying in Iraq will not keep US anymore protected then if we weren't. Homeland security chief Chertoff has a 'gut feeling'. I have a gut feeling too. That the Bush Administration is playing it both ways. We are making progress, yet losing the bigger war. Are we safer fighting terrorists abroad? or Is it leading to more terrorists and more casualties? Are we breeding more HATE?

"By rushing into Iraq instead of finishing off the hunt for Osama bin Laden, Washington has unwittingly helped its enemies: Al Qaeda has more bases, more partners, and more followers today than it did on the eve of 9/11. Now the group is working to set up networks in the Middle East and Africa -- and may even try to lure the United States into a war with Iran."
Foreign Affairs, May/June 2007.

So watch out America. Here comes Al Qaeda 2.0.1. Revitalized by the Bush Administration and our media and classified under one terrorist umbrella. Al Qaeda 2.0.1 includes all enemies of the West. Al Qaeda 2.0.1 our new "one common enemy", seeks to regain support for the "war of terrorism". Coming to a town near you. Blow back at its finest. Rummey, Cheney, Wolfowitz, GHWBush, you guys put US in this position. Your policy plans, backroom deals, lust for oil, and lack of compassion for the American public has catapulted the U.S. into a period of fear, disloyalty, and endless bloodshed.

In the words of Barbara Bush to Diane Sawyer in 2003, "Why should we hear about body bags and death? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?".Barbara and her sons, and their Machiavellian colleagues won't use their minds we, the American public, MUST.

Where have all the Insurgents Gone?

Just one month ago I couldn't turn on the television without hearing about the 'insurgents' next move, their current Iraq IED bombing campaign, waring factions within, newest botched plans, etc. Now I can't find them anywhere. Not even on FOX news. Nor from Tony Snow the White House Press Secretary. Where have all the Insurgents gone?

Currently, our national media has re dubbed all these insurgents with the " Al Qaeda" tag. Have all of these 'sectarian insurgents' all joined up with Al Qaeda? I am thinking not. So why all the fuss? Why all the confusion?

The insurgents represented diverse groups within Iraq with differing opinions and tactics used. In one way or another their actions created series of chaotic and deadly events for our military in Iraq. They were not a unified bunch of bullies and terrorists in Iraq. Definitely not unified under the extremist views of Al Qaeda...or even Al Qaeda Iraq.

Now under the new Iraq umbrella..they are all Al Qaeda. The one common enemy that we all know. The people who took down our towers in NYC, but not our pride and dignity as a nation. That is who Al Qaeda is. Osama and his crew of Islamic subverters. The 'high jackers' of Islam. Not the diverse groups of 'insurgents' in Iraq who are fighting for local social, economic, and political power. True, the insurgents hold the common belief that they do not want the U.S. in Iraq, but their concerns are local. Not Al Qaeda global jihad.

I must say the media switch was brilliant. Slowly build the 'buzz' of terror escalating in Iraq with diverse insurgent groups, then boom lump them as one common enemy, Al Qaeda. It refocuses the Iraq War. Lumping all these insurgents as Al Qaeda seeks to legitimise our actions. The reason why we supposedly went to war in the first place. We remember Colin Powell at the United Nations. Cheney muttering his hatred, Rummey telling us to believe, Zalmay Kahlilzad as the one stop source of the info., the Kristol con job, the 'axis of evil' State of the Union Address. We remember and bit the bait. We chewed it all up, after all...it was a 'Slam Dunk', and then went to war blindly.

Fools we were and now the Al Qaeda 'chatter' amongst our newscasts is as strong as ever. Beware. Here comes another farce, another spectacle, another perversion of Truth laid onto U.S. by our press, the current Bush Administration and the war mongers at American Enterprise Institute. Stop the 'chatter'...get U.S. out of Iraq and back to the "real" military mission...the so called "war on terror". The never ending war. The clash of civilizations, if you will. As Carl Von Clausewitz had stated in 1827..."war is politics by other means." The true question is...Do the ends truly justify the means of "mission accomplished". Oh yeah. This isn't a surge...It is an Escalation!

Samuel P. Huntington...Why have you and American Enterprise Institute Let U.S. down?

Samuel P. Huntington, you let me down. All those years in college studying your theories. Spending ours debating in class and with friends your Clash of Civilizations? Reading your articles in Foreign Affairs. Researching and composing papers on them. Analyzing them using the Hegelian Dialectic. I was intrigued by your connections to the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderbergs, and the Council on Foreign Relations...all of it. It seemed so " Cloak and Dagger". Man, what a great childhood film. What has become of such brilliance? Have my eyes opened to the larger picture? Samuel...talk to U.S...where are we going as a nation? Where have you and American Enterprise Institute led us? Have we gone astray from the plan, the surge, the escalation?

Was Francis Fukuyama right? Is it the End of History? I hope you guys still write. I know times have probably been tough since 2003, with FK denouncing Rummey and calling for his resignation and all, but let friends be. Then in 2006, I see he split with you, PNAC, and the core neo conservative militaristic ideology. Did that even hurt you guys? I thought you guys were tight. The Good ol' Boys. Late nite dinners, emails, back room deals, and we can't forget...triumphantly signing letters recommending the United States take "preemptive action" against Iraq to both the Clinton and Bush Administrations. were Just like two peas in a pod. What happened?

Sam..You had him. Francis killed his own Last Man in other writings! Then..He spilt with the Good ol' Boys and seems to have fallen in line with values more similar to us AMERICANS. An America which is a little less fierce, more realistic, more participatory, and a positive influence in the global community. As he has stated...Realistic Wilsonian ideals. Not the version that you and American Enterprise Institute are currently deploying.

I urge AEI to "change course". Mr. Samuel P. Huntington, please..use your power wisely and steer US in a better, more peaceful, less militaristic direction. You seem to be the last of the bunch that can make a difference. Use that brilliant mind for positive progress and change.

Sincerely,

A former idealistic devoted student of International Relations and Trade with a double minor in Political Science and History.
