Does the GOP still exist? or are they all Neo Cons now?

Who are the GOP representing? They're obviously not representing Muslims, African Americans, Latin Americans, or the middle class. I'm not sure they even have a 'base' anymore, The Christian Right is throwing their abortion hissy fit, the Minutemen are on revolt about immigration, and the military is turning sour on the war. America, the GOP is in trouble...and it's a good thing.

For decades the GOP have been 'preaching' to US. Telling US this is good and that is bad, meanwhile they've led their party into the ground. Countless ethics scandals, bathroom escapades, etc. Once propped up by Newt's Contract with America and the Religious Right the GOP ran the the show. Now those that prowl the halls of Congress have been led astray. They've gone to... as Cheney states, "the shadows"

The "shadows" are the back room deals, arm twisting hospital visits, illegal wiretapping, they are the politics behind the the 'culture of war'. Cheney, known for his Machiavellian and secretive ways has 'preached' nothing other than war and oil..perhaps a 'little' increase in the power of the executive, but beyond that..Cheney's doctrine is war. This culture has permeated throughout the GOP. Instead of capitalizing on their past victories with the religious right they've cast themselves away from those groups that once united them. Instead they settled into 'Rovian' partisan politics. They settled for talking points and 'Bush Diplomacy' forgetting the 'base' that brought them into power.

The party line...Gives away absolutely nothing to BushCo's war on terror. Nothing is negotiable. These wars are holding the GOP hostage. Unless they break away from Bush now, the GOP is finished. We might as well just call them what they are, America's new third party...the Neo Conservative Party.

Bush and Cheney and their neo conservative cronies have completely subverted the GOP. They've used religion as a 'tool' in their quest for power. Now that they have their desired power nothing is to prevent them from wildest dreams. We are now witnessing their 'vision' of how the world should function, not how the world does function.

Switzerland: Not so peaceful anymore

Europe is changing...perhaps it is 'fear mode', perhaps it's isolation, I don't know...but one thing is for sure ....Europe is becoming blatantly discriminatory. Today riots broke out in Switzerland between 'leftists protesters ' and the police. The 'leftists' were protesting against an election rally by the incumbent right wing Swiss People's Party (SVP). They blocked the square in which the rally was to be held and the police came in and forcibly removed them from the area.

Police fired tear gas as demonstrators hurled rocks and bottles in front of parliament to interrupt a march and rally by about 5,000 SVP supporters.

The SVP are basically the GOP of Switzerland...'Status quo fear mongers' who have a hard line approach towards foreigners. Nationalists..to keep it simple. The right wing SVP has launched some of the most anti immigrant, draconian, and racist legislation throughout Europe and if passed could have worldwide repercussions,

It will be the first such law in Europe since the Nazi practice of Sippenhaft – kin liability – whereby relatives of criminals were held responsible for their crimes and punished equally.

The proposal will be a test case not just for Switzerland but for the whole of Europe, where a division between liberal multiculturalism and a conservative isolationism is opening up in political discourse in many countries, the UK included.

Adding the the stir the SVP have created a Public Relations push to sell their xenophobia policies.

A poster campaign depicting three white sheep standing on the Swiss flag, with one craftily kicking away a black sheep, has been launched – and plastered on to billboards, into newspapers and posted to every home in a direct mailshot.

The poster is, according to the United Nations, the sinister symbol of the rise of a new racism and xenophobia in a country where one in four, like the black sheep in the poster, are now foreign immigrants to this peaceful, prosperous and stable economy with low unemployment and a per capita GDP larger than that of other Western economies. dailymail

Folks, Welcome to the GOP of Switzerland...the right wing Swiss People's Party (SVP). Another election subversion in process. I wonder if they use Diebold voting systems, too.
